Yamanashi Prefectural Library

The Yamanashi Prefectural Library is located at the north exit of Kofu Station and was moved to a new building in 2012 as a lifelong learning base for prefectural residents. The building is made of steel-framed reinforced concrete, has one basement floor and three floors above ground, and has a total floor area of approximately 10,555 m2.Based on the concept of "living with nature," the exterior design is inspired by grape trellises and crystals. Green walls on the west and south sides and solar panels (105kW) improve environmental performance, and the open design with extensive use of glass creates a sense of unity with the city. The building was designed by Kume Sekkei and Miyake Architects and Associates JV, and was constructed by Hayano Gumi and others, creating an environment-friendly facility that is easy for everyone to use and features features such as universal design and the use of well water.
